Independence/Reform Party Nominee Wins Syracuse Mayoralty

On November 7, Syracuse, New York, held a partisan election for city office. Ben Walsh, who was not a major party nominee, but who was the nominee of the Independence Party and the Reform Party, won the election. See this story. Thanks to William Stevenson for the link.

  1. Curiously he had sought the Republican nomination,but had refused to change his registration. In New York party bosses have to give permission for a non-member to seek nomination.

    It may have been a blessing in disguise as the Republican nominee finished 4th with 3% of the vote behind Green nominee Howie Hawkins who had 4%.
