Latest Gallup Poll on Partisan Affiliation

On December 4, Gallup Polls released a new poll asking U.S. voters about their partisan affiliation. Gallup periodically does this poll. When respondents answer that they are “independent”, they are asked if they lean toward either the Republican Party or the Democratic Party, and leaners are then classified with that party.

The latest figures: Democratic 44%; Republican 37%; other 19%. See here. Thanks to Political Wire for the link.

Latest Gallup Poll on Partisan Affiliation — 7 Comments

  1. That’s such a flawed poll. If a person isn’t officially affiliated with either party, and do not wish to be, then they aren’t, even if they lean towards that Party.

  2. This just shows how all polls are stacked against 3rd parties. There are 5 national parties in the US (Constitution, Democrat, Green, Libertarian, & Republican) They should list them all and vary the order in which they list them.

  3. How about —

I love and adore control freak statism –

    Donkey version — aka communism

    Elephant version — aka fascism

I hate and despise control freak statism (and all the evil, death, slavery and destruction it has produced in 6,000 plus years).

PR and AppV — ANY poll about them EVER in the USA ???

  4. The United Coalition has been using pure proportional representation and giving the liberty to all candidates to self-categorize as they wish for more than twenty-two consecutive years.

In fact, Google was founded by Sergie Brin imitating our ranking system but they give you the rank based only on how much you pay them and so the got it wrong.

But BAN has no right complaining about plurality polls because they have only supported plurality polls and plurality candidates and so BAN continually supports the two-party system (and one-party system elections like IRV).

    All is forgiven.

We welcome everyone back to the team whenever they agree to abide by the correct protocol needed that makes collaboration stronger than hostility and conflict.

The United Coalition wastes no time and though it is an incredible amount of work to bring the United Coalition to the forefront, in the long run, fair elections under pure proportional representation will be worth waiting for.

  5. Following the link to the longer, non-tracking poll, it looks like Independents peaked in 2014. And Republicans haven’t had a clear lead since 1991.
