U.S. District Court Explains Why Arkansas March 1 Petition Deadline for Independent Candidates is Unconstitutional

On January 25, U.S. District Court Judge James M. Moody, Jr., issued an eight-page opinion in Moore v Martin, explaining why the Arkansas March 1 petition deadline for non-presidential independent candidates is unconstitutional. The Judge had already determined that the deadline is unconstitutional on December 15, 2017, but only now has he issued an explanation.

  1. The SOS argued that the State of Arkansas requires so many signatures that they can’t validate them in a timely fashion, therefore candidates must collect and submit them during slack times remote from the election?

    What next? If we permitted residents to register near to an election, we would have too many voters and long lines?

    Is this a problem in California, Washington, Louisiana, and Nebraska?

  2. What States have the SAME deadlines for the SAME *PARTISAN* offices — NOT in a top 2 primary regime ???
