New Mexico Legislature Passes Bill to Eliminate Primaries for Lieutenant Governor

Before the New Mexico legislature adjourned for the year, it passed SB 178. Governor Susana Martinez has until March 7 to act on the bill. It eliminates party primaries for Lieutenant Governor. Instead, after the June primaries, gubernatorial nominees would choose someone to run with them in November for Lieutenant Governor. The vote in the House was very close, 34-32.

  1. The gerrymander HACKS will rig elections to the MAX allowed in the USA or State Consts —

that is what they do — like spiders eating flies.

  2. Who needs a Lieutenant Governor anyway? Just let one of the other constitutional bozos step in as needed.

  3. The Lt Guv stuff is derived from the rotted upper House of *Lords* in the UK.

IE having 2 house State legislatures in the early States –

    Speaker in lower house
    Lt Gov in upper house
    —-
A Lt Guv should only be the head of an executive dept when not Guv or acting Guv.

  4. No single-winner districts should exist, and under pure proportional represention, two members are minimum number of elected names and decision items per election district.

One person is not a team and so the single winner election will attract candidates who are egomaniacs who have no use to demonstrate the teamwork needed to attract votes.

Pluralists approve of the “power grabber” psychology and they have no use for teamwork, the want and expect policy that is arrogant, pushy and built around the pluralist traits where one person districts are like road blocks to democratic values and needs.

The United Coalition has been using the collaborative traits of pure proportional representation (PPR) for more than twenty-three consecutive years and PPR works fine.
