Newspaper Story on Tennessee Libertarian Attempt to Publicize Unfair Ballot Access Law

Tennessee requires 33,844 signatures to get a new party on the ballot, but only 25 signatures for any independent candidate to get on the ballot (except president is 275). The party petition is so difficult, it has existed since 1961 and has never been used, except in 1968 by the American Party. In order to illustrate how absurd it is for the state to require so many more signatures for a party than for an independent candidate, the Tennessee Libertarian Party has put 17 gubernatorial candidates on the November 2018 ballot. The Volunteer Times has a story about this. The Volunteer Times is a newspaper in Campbell County, Tennessee.

The story says 30 independent candidates will be listed on the November ballot for Governor.

  1. The Secretary of State lists 26 independents, 6 Republicans, and 3 Democrats. Candidates must file a Statement if Interest within 30 days of the filing deadline (April 5 + 30 days = May 5). I had figured that the independents would have failed to do so, but I was wrong. 17 of the 26 independents have filed so far, only one Democrat, and no Republicans.

For most candidates the statement of interest consists of disclosure who they and their spouse work for (and receive income). The poor Democrat had to list 53 different economic interests.

I found something that says that write-in candidates have to file in each county where they want to have votes counted. Is this true?

  2. Conceited egomaniac males in the Libertarian will continue to be spokespersons for the Libertarian Party because they are interested only in the single winner district power grabs, and to speak about those power grabs, while doing nothing for teamwork and support of our opposite gender.

If you want a new humble message of unity, gender balance and pure proportional representation (PPR), the party boss system in the Libertarian Party will make sure you never know of the work by the United Coalition.

The United Coalition has been using pure proportional representation (PPR) for more than twenty-three consecutive years and PPR works fine.

  3. Americans reject the support for voting systems which are deemed racist by excluding 2nd, 3rd, 4th and smaller interest groups. Those very voting systems that the Libertarians of SF have strongly supported and continue to support in SF and everywhere.

I condemn the SF Libertarian Party for their continued support of these racist and sexist policies which are built into the City of SF’s voting system, and I encourage everyone to hold the Libertarians, abd all parties and independents, who have been protecting these unfair, disgusting policies.

  4. … to hold the Libertarian Party bosses responsible, for viciously protecting these disgusting policies from top to bottom.

  5. We must expand the effort to boycott the SF Chronicle and Bay Area News Group for viciously protecting these disgusting policies from top to bottom, on top of the unfair and equal treatment to political candidates free speech rights.

  6. …the unequal treatment by the SF Chronicle and Bay Area News Group, to the candidates of the political United Coalition.

  7. I’m all for with Brandon Lyon’s last comment. “How long, oh Richard, how long, must your readers suffer” these overly numerous, overly long, comments by Mr. Ogle?
