Illinois State Senator Sues Leader of the Illinois Senate Republicans Over Caucus Resources

On May 1, Illinois State Senator William “Sam” McCann filed a federal lawsuit against the leader of the Republican Party in the State Senate. He complains that the Illinois Republicans expelled him from the Republican caucus, and now he is deprived of resources to represent his district. McCann v Brady, 1:18cv-3115, n.d.

McCann announced last month that he will be the Conservative Party nominee for Governor of Illinois this year. But he says he never resigned from the Republican caucus. It is not clear why his lawsuit was filed in the northern district, because Springfield, the state capital, is in the central district. The complaint says both McCann and the Republican Party caucus have offices inside the northern district.

Paragraph 41 of the complaint lists all the perks provided to members of party caucuses. These perks are all funded from government funds. The case is assigned to Judge Andrea R. Wood, an Obama appointee.

  1. When will Libertarians start looking in the mirror at their own racist and sexist policies?

To continually expose the faults of others while they themselves ruthlessly snuff out equal treatment and equal time within their own party makes their complaints seem hypercritical.

  2. Hmm. A disloyal gerrymander hack — as far as the chief gangster hack is concerned ???

One more divide and conquer machination ???

  3. The complaint certainly exposes the “unfairness” of the Ill. Rep. Party to both McCann and his constituents and is interesting reading. Likewise, Demo Rep’s comment has bearing on the BAN posting – it is easy to see how the Reps see McCann as disloyal. However ….. the first comment by one James Ogle has absolutely no relationship to this BAN posting! “How long, oh Richard, how long?” must we suffer the screeds of Mr. Ogle?

  4. parliament (plural parliaments)

(now chiefly historical) A formal council summoned (especially by a monarch) to discuss important issues. [from 14th c.]

The supreme executive legislature of the United Kingdom, subsequently applied to corresponding legislative assemblies in other countries; an institution whose elected or appointed members meet to debate the major political issues of the day and usually to exercise legislative sometimes judicial powers. [from 14th c.]

An assembly of the members of such a legislature, as convened for a specific purpose or period of time (commonly designated with an ordinal number – for example, first parliament or 12th parliament – or a descriptive adjective – for example, Long Parliament, Short Parliament and Rump Parliament). [from 14th c.]

A gathering of birds, especially rooks or owls. [from 15th c.]

(historical) Parliament cake, a type of gingerbread. [from 19th c.]

When will people learn that words have meaning and no matter what you call your online friends it doesn’t make it so. Unless your members are types of birds.

  5. McGann is unable to become a 1 person caucus — to be his own chief hack gangster — to get those perks from the tax slaves ???

    Abolish the USA Senate.

    — Especially divide States like Illinois —

communist Donkeys in Chicago area vs fascist Elephants in rest of State.

    See which regimes survive.

    PR and AppV

  6. I agree, we usually have a choice between two bad sides, under pluralistic psychology. The only way to attain mathematical unity is by PPR. Anything else is unacceptable.

  7. Is this Conservative party in Illinois affiliated with any national third party. I dont think a Conservative Republican running as a Republican in Illinois stands a chance to get elected state wide. Moderate Republicans usually have won state wide offices in Illinois. In 1964 The late Senator Charles percy lost the race for Governor because of his support for Senator Barry Goldwater presidential campaign when other Republicans in Illinois distanced themselves from Goldwater. Hopefully Conservative voters could use the Conservative party as a way to revolt against the Illinois Republican party. If Fusion voting was allowedcin Illinois Conservative Republicans could run on both tickets.
