Alaska Legislator Switches Party Registration from Republican to Independent

On June 1, Alaska State Representative Paul Seaton announced that he has changed his registration from Republican to independent. He is running for re-election this year. He will seek the Democratic Party nomination this year. He was first elected in 2002, and represents part of the Kenai Peninsula.

He is the fifteenth state legislator in the nation who has changed from either Republican or Democratic, to either independent or other party, since the November 2016 election.

  1. How many very UN-happy voters who voted for the HACKS and now happy voters who did NOT vote for the Hacks ???

  2. He joined Democrats in taking control of the House of Representatives. The Republican Party tried to block him from being on the primary ballot, but election officials said that since he was a registered Republican they could not stop him. He quite likely would lose a Republican primary and there was no Democratic candidate in his district in 2016.
