The North Carolina Green Party has nominated its 2018 candidates, the first Greens in history who will ever have appeared on a North Carolina ballot for partisan office. The names will be released on Monday, July 2. The North Carolina process for newly-qualified parties is to nominate by convention, not primary.
Can’t wait to see the names. Pity that, as far as I’m aware, Cecil Bothwell isn’t involved with the party. As a sitting Democratic Asheville City Councilman in 2016, he left the party and publicly endorsed Stein, but sadly seemed to DemEnter this February or so, convinced the Democrats could move left with Bernie’s influence. He’s not in office anymore, but I hope he decides to cut off from the Democrats again and give the NCGP a chance since they’re now ballot qualified there.
