Although the Pennsylvania Constitution Party attempted to get on the ballot for Governor this year, it failed to collect as many as 5,000 signatures, and the deadline has now passed, so it won’t be on the statewide ballot this year. It did get on in 2016 for President.
Wow! That’s a big setback.
Geez…5,000 is nothing compared to the 25,000 non-Established candidates have to get statewide here in IL. Even in 2014, when myself and my fellow Illinois Greens failed to get enough signatures to get our candidates on the ballot, the 23,000 or so valid signatures we did collect would have been enough in PA this year four times over.
In other words, I WISH all we had to collect here in IL was 5000 valid signatures. The Constitution Party had a relatively reasonable requirement to meet in PA and they still couldn’t meet it…
I guess they only have enough resources & manpower to get on in just two or three states at the most these days, and no more.
Probably had something to do with a late start. Richard, what is the earliest that petitioning can begin in Penna? In West Va, we can start immediately following the election for the office sought, thus almost for years for state constitutional offices and president.
