This year, no Republican nominee exists in five of Florida’s 27 U.S. House districts. This is the highest number of U.S. House races in Florida with no Republican since 2006, when there was no Republican in six districts.
The five districts with no Republican are districts 10, 14, 20, 21, and 24. There are no independent candidates in any of those races either.
There are no minor party nominees for U.S. House in Florida this year, mostly because the filing fee is over $10,000. Florida filing fees are twice as high as the state with the 2nd-highest fees, Georgia.
Very few rigged gerrymander districts with under 55 percent rigged winners in general elections.

There is a write-in candidate in FL-20 who ran as a Republican in 2014, and attempted to petition on to the ballot this year (he would have needed 4300 signatures, and paid a signature verification fee of $0.10 per signature.
If there is only one candidate for a general election or primary, Florida leaves the race off the ballot completely. It might be helpful to not have a congressional candidate in a heavily Democratic district running around getting the vote out, which will produce votes for statewide races.
Would the filing fee be waived for an indigent (low-income and low-wealth) candidate, as various courts have found around the country? Or is it that they would have to do an onerous petition instead?
