Prohibition Party Will Nominate 2020 Presidential Candidate by Conference Call on November 13, 2018 — 42 Comments

  1. Average age of PP folks — under/over 100 ???

18 = 6+6+6 Prohibition Amdt >>> MAJOR criminal gangs (organized crime – later Mafia)

    — infect entire political structure (bribes/threats).

  2. Bill Bayes of Mississippi the VP nominee in 2016 will win the nomination , Bayes a conservative is a former school teacher and has been active in politics for nearly 30 years

  3. Bayes did consider running , but decided against it , The Prohibition party has ballot status in Mississippi , the only state as far as I know.

  4. The Prohibition party is more of a historical society than a party, the name is confusing and should be changed.Bill Bayes is a good man and a strong conservative, the party is short on funds and will have a hard time getting the word out.

  5. Not that I would consider doing this personally, but my evil martini-drinking and cigar-smoking alter ego tells me that someone could have a lot of fun with this “opportunity.”

  6. The Constitution Party welcomes former Prohibition Party members. We look forward to our November NatCom meeting in Dallas. See you there!

  7. Change the name of the Prohibition Party? How about something positive, like Sobriety Party

  8. They have already changed the name before but without any favorable results. American Christian Party and Statesman’s Party didn’t work any magic.

  9. Hello, Jonathan Makeley, state organizer of the Prohibition Party of New York here,
To provide some answers and responses,
Casual Observer, the conference is only open to current dues paying members of the party. As for candidates, so far Bill Bays had declared his intention to seek the nomination. I know of at least one other member who is considering seeking the nomination as well, but I’ll withhold the name until a formal declaration has ben made. A full list of the people seeking the nomination will by available by the end of October.

DemoRep, don’t know what the average age of our members is. Fr your second one, I’m not going to dignify your insane rambling.
Joe Lancaster, that remains to be seen. He may or may not, depending on how the members at the conferance vote.
Frank Harris, I would beg to disagree. Our party is involved in present day politics in various ways. Granted, we don’t have nearly as much money as the major parties or even some of the larger third parties. But we have reasons to believe that we have a god change to as well or even better than we did in 2016.

Richard Winger, to be exact those eligible to participate in the conferance are those members h are current with paying the annual $10 membership dues.

  10. 18 AMDT – Prohibition INSANITY >>>

Major added effect in 1932 gerrymander election >>>

the *modern* INSANE deficits / Welfare / WARfare govt regimes since 1932 —

on top of the various UNEQUAL ballot access laws since 1929.

How many felonies (esp. murders / assaults / extortions / bribes) during the 18th Amdt era — due to such 18th Amdt ???

  11. J.R.Myers “The Constitution Party welcomes former Prohibition Party members.”

I honestly wish more people knew that.

  12. DemoRep,
    1. National prohibition brought about the largest reduction in dinking in our nation’s history, and the general crime rate decreased during national prohibition.
    2. There were a lot less felonies under national prohibition then there are today under legal alcohol.
    3. What does the 18th Amendment have to do with gerrymandering, deficits, war, or ballot access laws. Our loses far more money due to the damages caused by alcohol than it ever gets from taxes on the alcohol industry. If the alcohol industry had been eliminated than our country would be in a better financial situation. The Prohibition Party has historically often been host to isolationists and pacifists. Also, we were one of the man targets when the major party’s created unequal ballet access laws under the Australian (state printed) ballot.

    4. Maybe I’d have a clearer idea what it is you were trying to say if you knew how to write in full sentences, instead of incomprehensible/ barely comprehensible sentence fragments.

  13. As far as I know, just Mississippi, but they got their presidential nominee on the ballot in two other states in 2016. Probably should have been 3, but Florida pulled some dirty shenanigans that kept many candidates off the ballot.

  14. REPEALING the 18th Amdt was one of THE major issues in 1932 —

along with increasing STATISM — due to the 1929[-1941] Great Depression.

MANY USA Reps were elected at large in 1932 due to the MAJOR population changes in 1910-1930 —

NO reapportionment of USA Reps in 1921-1922 after 1920 Census — DIRECT subversion of 14-2 —

IE many more leftist Donkeys elected at large to 1933-1934 USA Congress – later to be elected in gerrymander districts.

Results — INSANE annual deficits — super-INSANE govt debts — more UN-declared killer Prez Wars — Korea, Vietnam, Gulf I, Gulf II, Afghanistan, etc.

1929-1941 Donkey/Elephant regimes attacked ballot access for all third parties and independents
    — due to rise of communists and fascists in Europe.

  15. Ogle’s group is just himself and his imaginary friends. The Prohibition Party is very small, but at least consists of real people.

  16. We have state party recognition in Mississippi. In 2016, were on ballot in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Colorado, and had attempted to get on ballot on several others. We’re looking to get on ballot on several states in 2020.

  17. There were about 20 states where the Hedges and Bays Ticket could be written in. Although only some of them gave separate total for the ticket. For instance, I wrote in Jim Hedges in New York, but since we don’t complete the paperwork for getting a separate write-in tabulation, we didn’t get a separate official total. Though I was counted, as it was listed in the results reported my town’s newspaper.

  18. Well, the competition for the Prohibition Party presidential nomination just heated up. We had two more members, Phil Collins and Adam Seaman announced that they are also seeking the presiential nomination.

  19. I’d love to know how you know that “national prohibition brought about the largest reduction in drinking in our nation’s history”.

Of course there “were a lot less felonies under national prohibition then there are today”. More things are illegal today.

  20. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prohibition

How much MAJOR crime during the *Prohibition Era* in the USA — due to such Prohibition ???

How many *organized* crime gangs in how many cities — New York {the infamous 5 families], Chicago (Capone, etc), Detroit [Purple gang], etc. ???

How many bribes of how many USA / State / Local officials ???

  21. Brandon, in the U.S., cirrhosis of the liver declined about 50%, compared to what it had been before prohibition took effect. The disease climbed again after prohibition was repealed.

  22. me, Yes, there are quite a few members under 70. As for the candidates, I believe Bayes and Collins are in their 60’s and Seaman in his late 30’s.

  23. Part of the reason cirrhosis declined was that the government increased the lethality of chemicals added to industrial alcohol in an attempt to discourage people from drinking it. Government had been adding a small amount of poison to industrial alcohol for years to give people an incentive to buy taxed alcohol. During Prohibition, black market chemists had found ways of removing those chemicals. But the chemists couldn’t remove the new toxic mix that the government added in the mid 1920s. People drank the industrial alcohol anyway. 10,000 people died in New York City alone from drinking the government’s poison. Hundreds of thousands more were permanently blinded or paralyzed. I’ll bet they all stopped drinking after that, especially the dead ones. No liver cirrhosis for any of them.

  24. @Jim, you’re brilliant! All the government needs to do in order to cut down on heroin overdoses is to poison any batch they come across and let it pass through. I bet the number of deaths due to heroin will drop in just a few years. /s

  25. It’s sad that so many can’t grasp sarcasm from context and rely on the /s tag as a crutch.

  26. I use the /s just to cover my butt if anything I ever post somewhere gets taken out of context in the future. Its a brave new world we live in where something said decades ago can haunt people for their entire lives.

  27. The Prohibition party is as dead as Elvis, talking about this party is like having hope in either Santa Clause or the Easter bunny

  28. Why not the other way around, JR? The Drys certainly have a lot more history than the L&Lers.

  29. The Prohibition Party has a trust that funds each presidential campaign, which is more than the Life & Liberty Party has.
