Lou Jacobson Analyzes Which State Legislative Chambers are Likely to Switch Control from One Party to Another

Lou Jacobson’s Governing blog here displays the partisan lineup in each state legislative chamber, and also predicts which chambers will switch from having a majority of one party, to a majority of the other party. There is a surprisingly small number of chambers likely to switch, and only one state in which he expects both chambers to switch. He think it is likely that both New Hampshire chambers will switch from Republican majorities to Democratic majorities.

  1. 1. ANTI-Democracy Minority Rule Gerrymander Math in ALL States since 1776 —

    A. UNEQUAL winner votes in each gerrymander single member district.

    B. UNEQUAL total votes in each gerrymander district.

    C. 1/2 or less votes x 1/2 rigged pack/crack gerrymander districts = 1/4 or less CONTROL = ANTI-Democracy minority rule OLIGARCHY.

    Much worse primary math.

    D. BLATANT violations of RFG in USA Const Art. 4, Sec. 4 and EPC in 14 Amdt, Sec. 1.

    2. Save Democracy – via Proportional Representation (P.R.) —

    A. A State/Local legislative body exists ONLY because ALL Electors in the State/locality can NOT assemble in person and enact laws/ordinances.

    B. Basic P.R. —

Party Members = Total Members x Party Votes / Total Votes

    = Party Votes x [[ Total Members / Total Votes ]]

    = Party Votes / [[ Ratio ]]

    EXACT P.R. —

Voting Power of Party Members = Party Votes.
