See the Tennessee Ballot, with the Largest Number of Candidates for a Statewide Office in a Regularly-Scheduled Election in U.S. History

This year the Tennessee November ballot has 28 candidates for Governor. There is one Republican, one Democrat, and 26 with the label “independent.” This is the largest number of candidates ever printed on a U.S. general election ballot for a statewide office, in a regularly-scheduled election. See the ballot here. The first page, the second page, and the third page, have nothing but gubernatorial candidates.

The chief reason there are so many is that the Tennessee Libertarian Party wanted to publicize how silly the state’s ballot access laws are. The state only requires 25 signatures for an independent candidate, but 33,844 signatures for a newly-qualifying party. So the party qualified 15 Libertarians to run as independents for Governor. There is also a Green Party candidate who qualified as an independent, and the remaining 10 are actual independents. The Green is Yvonne Neubert. The Libertarians are Sherry Clark, Justin Cornett, Gabriel Fancher, Sean Fleming, William Helmstetter, Cory King, Matthew Koch, Alfred Rapoza, Heather Scott, George Smith, Jeremy Stephenson, Tracy Tisdale, Mike Toews, Vinnie Vinyard, and Jaron Weidner.

  1. Had the United Coalition USA been involved our team would be collaborating as a two-member district, Governor and Lt. Governor, from two different parties (or independents), in such a way demonstrate teamwork.

Just to get on the ballot as large numbers simply guaranteed the split vote problem.

But had there been the team plays then the ink wouldn’t have been just about the large number but about a coordinated plan.

Us men ourselves are to blame because some of us put ourselves and our own gender ahead of women and that’s the losing strategy.

The winning strategy is for two member districts, like Gov/Lt Gov, and a big team marking our opposite gender ahead of our own with consecutively ranked alternating genders thereafter.

We won with 52.7% in 2012 but the party bosses and google don’t want you to know about teamwork across party lines.

Because the party bosses want to make sure only their own party candidates are seen as better than everyone else instead of trying to attract votes from the 100%.

  2. How many seconds until the TN Empire strikes back —

wipes out ALL minor parties and independents ???

  3. What happens if you vote for Lee or Dean on the first page and then page down to the third page and vote for Wright?

The layout is similar to the layout used in some counties in the 2016 Texas presidential primary, where a second page contained the last candidate and “uncommiited”. Texas does a ballot order drawing in each county, and if the last candidate was an also-ran statewide, he would get a few percent statewide.

  4. What STONE AGE *State* have the worst STONE AGE so-called election “law” ???

One more excuse used by Devil City control freak monsters to wipe out all State/Local govts ??? Duh.

See the TOTAL raving by the TV MORONS on 2018 election night.

The Apocalypse HYPER-ROT pressure has been building since 4 July 1776.

  5. This stunt could backfire by causing the legislature to pass a new law which will make it more difficult to place independent candidates on the ballot. This would be a bad thing if it happens.

  6. Any sample ballots in Stone Age Tenn — for the Stone Age regime archives ???

Will the 26 get a combined 1 percent of the votes — from their relatives in Stone Age Tenn ???

    Place your bets.

PR and AppV — with *serious* candidates.

  7. Top 2 with qualification by candidate supporters appearing at county courthouses. 0.1% of previous gubernatorial vote to qualify (1354 currently).

  8. @James Ogle: A candidate for governor of Tennessee doesn’t get to choose a running mate of the same party or a different party or the same gender or the opposite gender. That’s because the position of lieutenant governor of Tennessee is not popularly elected. It automatically goes to the speaker of the state senate.

  9. Top 2 math for math MORONS —

1/2 or less votes x 1/2 rigged gerrymander areas

= 1/4 or less CONTROL = ANTI-Democracy minority rule OLIGARCHY.

See CA math – due to top 2 in large part

    53 USA Reps [low 27 D win],
40 CA state sens [low 21 D win],
    80 CA state Reps (ASSem)(low 41 D win).

More of same on 2018 election day — in 2019-2020.

  10. Joshua K., thanks for the info., born in Bham myself, I grew up hiking the Appellation Trail so I have an affinity with TN. In fact I was in Memphis just last June at the MLK assassination site. Nice trolly ride.

In TN, let’s try to build teamwork in more ways, us men making our opposite gender ahead of our own in elections, with consecutively ranked alternating genders thereafter.

It only works in at-large national PPR Electoral College as a two-member district.

We can also work to collaborate on County levels.

Great situation in TN but we must get the counties ranked by population counts highest to lowest starting right away.

  11. How about ONE cell amoeba critters ??? —

more intelligent than lots of gerrymander HACK monster so-called humans.

  12. The United Coalition USA can move forward without these caustic male chauvinists.

Our team is free to promote teamwork among both genders, but key people here only want to belittle our effort for collaboration and to thus keep the history of US Electoral College and other districts like Governor of California, 100% male for another 250 years.

Bringing higher levels of representative accuracy on behalf of gender equality is a worthy cause.

I may not be the most eloquent spokesperson but clearly the intent is one with which I am proud and confident despite those bringing their smack on women.

Those women and men who continually degrade our efforts for a fair method of partnership among all voters in the effort using conciliatory rhetoric, they bring more hate and disdain towards women by both genders and so us men must work harder to eliminate this cycle.

These types of men and women who continually degrade the teamwork between genders, are typical of the types of personalities that we can push out of any trusting responsibilities, and so we should inform the other team players of the comments by them when appropriate.

We know who they are, they are the executive director, the chairs and the official contacts for the national Libertarian Party.

We see this humiliation of women throughout the Libertarian Party bosses and so our task is difficult.

Unfortunately there is too much documentation of their vile behaviour and hostile comments towards women for US to reference here.

  13. Jim Riley, Top Two is no good because the 2nd phase of it elects only one name, and single winner election districts bring a two-party system, so we are united against Top Two.

If you are promoting Top Two, then you are also promoting a two-party system and that’s not good enough.

Why promote a flawed election system when America is a melting pot, we’re searching for more than two parties, higher levels of competition, equal time, equal treatment and fair representation in government?

Top Two is a single-winner district election and the United Coalition USA has determined that single winner district elections like Top Two are no good and should be eliminated along with eliminating all single-winner districts.

  14. @joogle,

Top 2 eliminates the segregated partisan primaries. Do Santa Cruz (county or city) have two party governments?

I am dubious of the ability of voters to rank numerous candidates for numerous offices. See Australian Senate elections.

  15. I don’t understand your question, Santa Cruz has one party winning 100% of the seats using at-large single-winner plurality voting.

In Australia, there are no third parties elected under IRV in single-winner districts but for Senate the regularly elect third parties and independents according to my brief research.

  16. Party Members = Total Members x Party Votes / Total Votes

Difficult ONLY for math morons who failed 3rd grade fractions math —

AND the EVIL ROTTED gerrymander oligarch MONSTERS in power — as EVIL as Stalin, Hitler, etc.

How many math MORONS and MONSTERS among the TV talking head morons on election night

    — esp. the *experts* — esp. lawyer and polisci profs ???

    PR and AppV

  17. @joogle,

What party wins all the seats in Santa Cruz? Is this true for both the city and county?

The Australia house does have third party members and inependents.

How does STV work in Malta?

what is above-the-line and below-the-line voting? Why do most Australians vote above the line?

  18. @DR,

How would you dtermine which party members were elected?

Party Members = Total Members x Party Votes / Total Votes

    99 total members
    1 million total votes
    345,000 party votes

    Party Members = 34155000/1000000

    Or 34 and 155000/1000000

  19. see the basic PR posting — again and again and again a zillion times.

    99 x 345000 / 1000000 = 34.155

NOT Exact — more likely 34 members but possible 35 depending on other party votes.

IE more likely highest fractions will get marginal members.
    —-

Exact 345000/1000000 = 34.5 percent of the total voting power in such 34 members.

Advanced students can likely detect the 345,000 math among the 34 winners.

Due to major gross ignorance — having exact math will take SOME minimal education — about ONE person — ONE vote in legis bodies —

agents — a member is the agent/rep. of the voters who elected the agent.
    —-
    See corporation meetings –

agent voting power = shares owned by 1 or more shareholders.

  20. On a different note, please keep us posted on how each of the 14 Libertarians in the voting.
