New Mexico Legislative Hearing for Bill to Let Independents Vote in Partisan Primaries

On Tuesday, January 29, the New Mexico House Consumer & Public Affairs Committee will hear HB 93. This bill lets independents, and members of unqualified parties, vote in any party’s primary. It is thus similar to primaries in Colorado and Arizona, which are properly termed semi-closed primaries.

If the bill passes that committee, then it must also pass the State Government, Elections & Indian Affairs Committee, and then the Judiciary Committee.

  1. It should be up to each party to decide whether of not to let any non party member vote in its primary. But, if a state pays for a primary, it should be allowed to require any party to pay for the cost of the primary up to the extent of the total percentage of excluded voters. Any qualified party should have the option of nominating by convention, on-line, or mail-in voting without a primary, if it so chooses.

  2. Parties are FACTIONS/fractions of ALL PUBLIC Electors —

    are NOT independent empires

    — in the PUBLIC nomination process for PUBLIC offices.

Thus – ALL or SOME PUBLIC Electors nominate each candidate

    — according to PUBLIC L-A-W-S.

Various MORON SCOTUS Ops must be over-ruled — esp 2000 Dems case.
