On May 29, the California bill to require presidential primary candidates to reveal the last five years of their income tax returns was amended. SB 27 now also applies that requirement to candidates for Governor. As before, though, the bill does not apply to write-in candidates.

IMO, It should be up to the voters to decide whether a candidate’s disclosure or non-disclosure of tax or other information matters. The more requirements that are laid upon candidates just to run results in fewer candidates choosing to run, and fewer choices for voters. In fact, the chances increase that those candidates that choose to run will consciously file returns and reports that are misleading, or even fraudulent.
California uses an independent group to draw districts rather than the legislature. No gerrymandering in California.
Michelle Vinson, the only way to avoid and gerrymandering in any USA state is the elect all the seats at-large as one state-wide district.
Droop Quota = [(Total at-large seats +1) ÷ total votes cast] plus one vote
The Droop Quota sets the threshold in all at-large seat to be equal and broken by one vote and by using the ranked choice voting (RCV) and in multiple winner districts, that brings limited voting and mitigates the split-vote problem when too many good candidates vie.
