Alaska Removes List of Parties from Front of Voter Registration Form

The Alaska Division of Elections has redesigned the voter registration form. Formerly it listed all the qualified parties, with a checkbox. It even listed the unqualified parties that had told the state they are trying to accumulate registrations.

But, as the list of unqualified parties grew longer, the state decided to remove the names of all parties from the front of the form. Now every applicant must write-in whichever party he or she wishes. Here is the form. Scroll down to box 13.

The back of the form still lists all the qualified parties, and all the unqualified parties that are seeking registrations. Thanks to Scott Kohlhaas for this news.

  1. Medical Marijuana. There are some states where all you have to do get a minimal level of recognition, even if it is from some gadfly from another state. UCES Clowns started in California, and filed in Alaska, Hawaii, and Oklahoma.

In Alaska, a “political group” is a grouip of voters that has not qualified to be a “political party”. Before March, 2019 registration statistics included political parties, political groups, and “other”. Now the other category is limited to Undeclared and Nonpartisan. That was the month the Libertarian Party was demoted to Political Group status. It appears that they realized it was so easy to get political group status, that the form would be flooded.

  2. How many AK voters can write in names ??? —

See the now infamous Murkowski write-in election —

Merski ?? MerCOWsky ??? etc etc etc

Nom pets for REAL candidates of REAL *parties*
