Doesn’t the Constitution state that Congress would have exclusive legislative power over the federal district? If so, couldn’t any future Congress rescind any act of Congress that granted statehood?
Just turn DC over to Maryland.
Michael, Agreed. Finish what they started when Arlington was turned over to Virginia. Maryland would get one more U.S. Rep and that’s it. But only on the condition that they repeal the 23rd Amendment. 436 total Electoral votes.
Why not reduce the federal district to the area south of New Hampshire and Massachusetts Avenues, and turn the rest over to Maryland?

The cession was for a specific purpose. If Congress no longer uses it for that specific purpose, it must revert to Maryland.
Congress has authority to require that states permit residents of federal enclaves to vote in state locations.
If residents of commercial and residential areas want full retrocession, grant it to them.
Even-though D.C.’s residents (I believe) have never voted to request state-hood, isn’t it strange that all those Congressman are stampeding to un-Constitutionally(?) grant the District of Columbia state-hood.
Puerto Rico’s people finally voted for state-hood & they’re essentially ignored by the Democratic House who’re always bragging about how much they CARE about Latin people in America.
