On August 26, Helen Gym, a Democratic member of the Philadelphia city council, endorsed one of the Working Families nominees for that same office. The election is November 5, 2019. Philadelphia uses limited voting, so that even though seven seats are being filled, no party may run more than five nominees. Everyone expects that the five Democrats will all win, so the only real suspense is whether a Republican or a Working Families Party wins one of the remaining seats. Nevertheless, not all Democratic peers of Councilmember Gym are pleased with her action. See this story.
Maj Toure is also running for a seat as a Libertarian: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maj_Toure
PR in ALL legislative body elections – even olde near dead urban ghetto cities.
WFP is so chummy with the Democrats that their run for the two minority party At-large council seats undermines the intent of the charter rule to prevent a single party monopoly of city government. There are other independent and minor party candidates competing for these seats. Joe Cox is running a strong alternative campaign. Steve Cherniavsky is running with a Term Limits for Council banner. Maj Toure is running as a gun rights Libertarian. And Olivia Faison is a Green Party write-in candidate.
Divisions among the Republicans make it a bit more likely that they will not hold both of these seats.

Sounds like Democrats found yet another way of cheating — running as a different party to take all the seats.
