  1. The neither a Secretary of State nor any other duopoly partisan official would have any say about which persons voters were allowed to vote for IF all ballots were open write-in ballots similar to the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot.

  2. Turn in paperwork with a good cushion before the deadline and maybe there would be time to correct issues like this.

  3. Jim, these two candidates were on the ballot. They were a husband and wife in Meriden. What they did is ask to switch offices that they wanted to run for, Mayor and Area 4 for the City Council.

What SOTS claims is that their paperwork to switch the names had some errors in them that they said could not allow them to switch. SOTS then decided that neither one of them could run. It is one thing if their paperwork to switch was invalid. That would mean that nothing changes. They would have to run on their original offices they sought and obtained ballot access. But, SOTS went beyond that is arbitrarily decided that neither one of them could run.

The latest as of today is that SOTS backtracked before tomorrow’s hearing, and said they would put the candidates on the ballot as the LPCT wishes them to do so.
