Mark Sanford Ends Campaign for Republican Presidential Nomination — 22 Comments

  1. NOT too wise —

in view of coming Trump CERTAIN impeachment in USA H Reps regarding 2019 Trump Ukraine BLATANT bribe/extortion machination on top of 2016 Trump Russia machinations

    — regardless of whatever Senate Elephants do or not do.

  2. ALL States should have odd year elections for ALL statewide executive officers for 2 year terms –

to have some sort of semi-qualified exec offs to be Prez/VP candidates in Prez/VP election years.

Also – 2 year terms for Prezs – NO be Prez in next term —

to reduce the nonstop trend since 1789 towards TYRANT LAWLESS Prezs – esp with UN-declared foreign Wars.

  3. USA GDP — about $ 20 plus TRILLION

USA regime budget — about $ 5 plus TRILLION

Raving lunatics about alleged big campaign finance spending — in the low hundreds ???

  4. Don’t be surprised if he does pop up in the LP. He’s the type of candidate they have chosen the past few elections.

  5. DEATH threats from Trump/his Hacks to ex-R hack Prez candidates to NOT let RED Donkeys divide and conquer — ever again ???

    see 1912.

  6. I know all the purists would freak. But, Amash/Sanford as a ticket running against Trump would get Gary Johnson/Bill Weld-like numbers and attention. Especially when the alternative for more right-leaning voters in Trump.

  7. Sanders/whatever other commie you think of would get more votes. Principles don’t matter to the LP anymore.

  8. How about the LP nominate Bernie Sanders? How about Bernie Sanders/Hillary Clinton, or, since Gary Johnson and Bill Weld think she is so wonderful, how about the LP nominate Hillary Clinton for President, and Bernie Sanders for Vice President? They would get the LP way more votes than Johnson/Weld got, or Amash/Sanford would get. Clinton/Sanders would get the LP ballot access in a bunch of states, and qualify the LP for matching funds, which I am sure there are plenty of opportunists and con-artists out there who’d love to get a piece of those matching funds. Their campaign slogan could be, “Votes matter more than principles.” After all, the purpose of the Libertarian Party is to get votes for the sake of getting votes, not to stand for any principles.

    (Sarcasm intended.)

  9. Andy – perhaps other slogan ??? —

Statism matters- Votes mean nothing to statist killer control freaks like us [ C/S or S/C ]

See olde nazi Goebbels Propaganda Dept.

  10. “After all, the purpose of the Libertarian Party is to get votes for the sake of getting votes, not to stand for any principles.”

It’s so funny you say this ironically. It’s an electoral party. It is for elections. So, yes, the points is to get votes. Yes, we want the party to have a set of principles it adheres to in search of those votes…but that should be a loose collection of principles that brings together an electoral block. That *IS* the point.

  11. If Libertarians nominate someone who isn’t libertarian and he then spreads an anti libertarian message as a libertarian one then the public gets confused about what libertarianism is and it destroys the movement.

  12. Some people want the LP to just be a social club where people can try to see who’s purest. The odd thing I see is that many of these “purity matters” people hold serious non-libertarian views. Some even compare immigration to “forced association” which is absurd, and clearly a veil for nativisim and at worst bigotry.

  13. More immigrants = more LOOTER voters for RED communism — in the top RED communist donkey brains.

See the much below average LOOOW vote totals AND Donkey winners in gerrymander areas having a HIGH percent of illegal invaders — esp CA, TX, NY.

  14. Mark Sanford (who calls himself a libertarian) was at a recent Libertarian Party meetup in Manchester, NH and said he turned down a request from Gary in 2016 to be his running mate. He also was basked THREE TIMES what would need to happen for him to join the LP; and he kept giving non-answers.
To say everyone (including many “non-purists”) was less than impressed would be an understatement.
