Three Republicans Qualify for Alabama Presidential Primary

The 2020 Alabama Republican presidential primary will have only three candidates: President Donald Trump, Bill Weld, and Rocky De La Fuente. Each candidate needed 500 signatures. See the Republican Party’s web page. There will also be a slate of unpledged delegates.

For U.S. House, 7th district, no Republican congressional candidate qualified, even though no petition was needed, just a filing fee.

Three Republicans Qualify for Alabama Presidential Primary — 11 Comments

  1. The Libertarian Party, or some other minor party or independent, ought to run for US House in that district.

  2. To all those worried about Weld jumping back to the LP, Alabama has a sore loser law so if he runs in the primary he can’t run in the general election.

  3. I generally do not like Sore Loser laws, but in this case I am glad it will prevent Bill Weld from seeking to be on the LP’s presidential ticket again.

It looks like the infiltrators, saboteurs, opportunists, and other members of the Libertarian Party’s Shiny Badge Caucus will have to find another horse to get behind. Will it be Lincoln Chafee, Mark Sanford, or somebody else? Stay tuned.

  4. In other words, Andy loves anti libertarian laws so long as they hurt his enemies. Why don’t you tell the people the real reason you hate Bill Weld?

  5. Andy was annoying Weld throughout the 2016 convention in Orlando. He kept bothering him like a crazed fanboy. Eventually, Weld got tired of it and gave a very stern “scram jerkoff” or something similar and ever since then Andy has been on a tear against Weld.

  6. I did not say I loved anything. I am just glab Bill Weld won’t be running for President or Vice President on the LP ticket again.

I never spoke to Bill Weld. I kind of regret not telling him off to his face the times I saw him in Orlando, Long Beach, and New Orleans.

  7. Wow. You stalked him across three cities? Weld really should consider taking out a restraining order to avoid the harassment.
