British Voters on December 12 Will Typically Have a Choice of Five Parties — 13 Comments

  1. Mother of ALL *modern* DARK AGE ANTI-Democracy gerrymander parliaments since 1200s

    — 700 plus years of ANTI-Democracy gerrymander oligarchs

    — with various TYRANT Prime Ministers since 1700s – esp since 1833 gerrymander Reform Act [after a major CRISIS].

Place bets of what percent of plurality winners will get even a bare majority in the gerrymander districts — about 20 top HACKS de facto CONTROL the regime.

Place bets on if fascist Cons or commie Labs get even 35 pct of the total votes.

Hope for TOTAL gridlock – NO party majority.

Hope for a written Const — NONE in the current 1066 DARK AGE regime.

NOOOOO body’s life, liberty or property is currently *safe* in the UK.

    PR and AppV and TOTSOP

  2. Also – the HC Speaker and about 6 more sub-speakers usually do NOT vote on stuff —
    de facto gerrymander majority = 1/2 x 643 = 322

The 322 lowest in the left/right winning gang [if any] will be elected by about 20 [repeat 20] percent of the total voters

    — even a worse pct than in CA with the rigged CA top 2 primary and the CA gerrymander Comm. [about 25 pct].

UK Republic forces massing – to END ALL the 700 plus years of TYRANT oligarch/monarch laws.

Speaker is in Seat in Middle —

2 mobs face each other across 8-10 foot aisle – often yelling at each other – with Speaker often saying

    ORDER, ORDER. ORDER !!!

What DARK AGE olde books are on the aisle Table ???

Only about 100 of 650 gerrymander oligarchs are even somewhat close to Speaker and Table.

Hacks sitting next to each other — NOOO separate seats/tables for them.

    ONE giant MOB scene.

Hundreds often missing – esp for UN-important stuff.

  4. In Britain candidates qualify as individuals with a petition of 10 persons and a deposit of £500 ($655).

  5. Jim Riley,

I once read that the &500 deposit is refunded to those candidates that received 5% of the vote in their parliamentary district. Do you happen to know if that’s still in effect? Sorry, as far as I know my reduced keyboard doesn’t have the Pound Sterling symbol.

  6. @Deemer,

Yes the deposit is returned based on if the candidate receives 5%. There is a certain bit of embarassment if a candidate loses their deposit particularly for a major party.

In 2017 Labour lost none of their deposits. They ran in 631 of 650 seats, not contesting the Northern Ireland seats, nor the speakers seat. Traditionally, the speaker runs as an independent, and the major parties do not contest the seat.

Conservatives lost the 7 deposits where they ran in Northern Ireland.

Lib Dems lost 375 of 629 deposits (59.6%). They skipped three seats in Great Britain, the speaker’s seat, the one Green constituency, and one other. They were pounded because of their disastrous coalition with the Tories.

Greens lost 456 of 467 (97.6%) of deposits, while UKIP lost 337 of 378 (89.2%).

Nationalist parties varied. Scottish National Party lost 0 of 59 deposits in Scotland, while Democratic Unionist Party lost 0 of 17 in Northern Ireland (they skipped one race). Plaid Cymru lost 16 of 40 (40%) in Wales. Sinn Fein lost 4 of 18 in Northern Ireland (22.2%).

    Other candidates lost 373 of 427 (87.4%).

The Electoral Commission has reccommended eliminating the deposit, while the petition would be retained.

In Canada, the deposit has been ruled unconstitutional.

  7. @Deemer,

If you select the numeric keyboard then select 1/2 key at the left side you will (may) find symbols such as € £ ¥ ♤ ♡ ◇ ♧ ¡ ¿ ☆

These are from the Google virtual keyboard which is probably installed on your device. There are also 3rd party keyboards available.

You can also cut and paste. To get symbols like §

  8. Browser apps may have special characters in Edit – then copy and paste.

    Same for text apps.

  9. Will the Lib Dems be reduced to single digits again? Will they be the 4th or 5th party in Commons? Stay tuned!

  10. I can’t remember, but last election a legit party had fewer votes than the joke Monster Raving Looney Party.

  11. https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/

akin to combined USA FEC and State election officers/bodies — after various election disasters in UK.

EARLY results starting after 4 PM EST 12 Dec 2019.

ONLY House of Commons member on ballots —

Brits too stupid paralyzed to have 2 or more offices / issues –

IE a redo of Brexit vote should have been on ballots.
