Missouri State Senate Bill for Closed Primaries

Missouri State Senator Andrew Koenig (R-St. Louis County) has introduced SB 571, to convert Missouri primaries from open to closed. Both houses of the legislature now have bills to do that. Thanks to Ken Bush for this news.

  1. Political parties should keep track of their own members.

    When a voter appears at the polling place, each PCO (political control officer) shall indicate with a verbal Da/Nyet and a hand signal Thumbs up/Thumbs down whether the voter can be given their party ballot or not. The voter would be given a ballot combining the candidates of all parties permitting a vote for its candidates, as well as all independent candidates and nonpartisan offices.

    The Top 2 candidates would advance to the general election.
