California Judicial Candidate Changes his First Name to “Judge” — 6 Comments

  1. Judge Roy Hofheinz who was responsible for the building of the Astrodome, was actually last Harris County Judge in 1944, and had been mayor of Houston in between before the Dome was built. The Astrodome was officially the Harris County Domed Stadium, and Hofheinz had a quite elaborate suite in the building. I had always figured he was county judge at the time the Dome was built in 1965, but I don’t think he was ever referred to as Roy.

  2. King Swope was a representative from Kentucky. Lots of middle names of King, including Mo King Udall.

Caesar Augustus Rodney was Demo Rep from Delaware. You may remember J(ulius) C(aeser) Watts from Oklahoma.

The first congressman of Asian descent, Dalip Singh Saund was known as Judge Saund, and his campsign literature read either Judge Saund or D.S.(Judge) Saund.

  3. Don’t print any candidate names on the the state monopoly ballot. Use a voter write-in ballot to maximize voter freedom of choice without state sponsored manipulations by candidates and parties.
