New York State Considers Moving Democratic Presidential Primary from April to June

New York state officials are considering whether to cancel the April 28 presidential primary, and instead holding it in late June, when the state holds primaries for other office. See this story.

Other states that are scheduled to hold presidential primaries on April 28 are Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

  1. Long ago, in Yick Wo v. Hopkins, 118 U. S. 356, 118 U. S. 370 [1886] , the Court referred to “the political franchise of voting” as a “fundamental political right, because preservative of all rights.”

  2. The New York Libertarian presidential primary had already been cancelled because none of the Libertarian presidential candidates submitted delegate lists in each US House district. This was the first time the LP had been entitled to a presidential primary in New York, and perhaps the party didn’t know about this rule.

  3. Did tbe Jacob Hornberger campaign sunmit delegates for each US House district in NY? I know they submitted delegates, I just do not know if it was a full slate, and if they covered every US House district.
