Congressman Justin Amash Lists Himself in Congressional Directory as a Libertarian

Congressman Justin Amash is now listed in the Congressional Directory as a Libertarian. He is the first member to list himself as a member of a nationally-organized party, other than the Democratic and Republican Parties, since Congressman Vito Marcantonio was listed as an American Labor Party member. Marcantonio left Congress after he was defeated for re-election in 1950. The American Labor Party was the New York state affiliate of the Progressive Party that was founded early in 1948 by Henry Wallace.

Ron Paul always listed himself in the Congressional Directory as a Republican. John Anderson continued to list himself as a Republican all during 1980, even though he was running for president as an independent that year.

Congressman Justin Amash Lists Himself in Congressional Directory as a Libertarian — 24 Comments

  1. Amash hasn’t even read the entire platform by his own admission, yet Sarwark and Co are wetting their pants in excitement. Amash is a fake and a dud.

  2. The last time the House of Representatives was TRI-partisan was in 1985 when William Carney NY-1 switched from “Conservative” (NY only party) to Republican. For the Senate it was 1976 when James L. Buckley (also “Conservative”) switched to “Republican”

  3. Maybe this will start a domino effect. – John

    Like the Vietnam War? 😉

  4. More footnotes in the archives.

Effect on LAWS — about ZERO ???

  5. “He could have done this last July.”

Unless we’re signing up newborn babies, everyone could have joined earlier. I’m not willing to restrict ourselves to political virgins. If we accept converts they will invariably have a past and a conversion date that could have been sooner.

    “wetting their pants in excitement”

Nothing wrong with being a bit excited about an L in the congressional directory, it’s a good thing and long awaited. And it’s a separate issue from whether or not he gets the nomination. I plan to savor our brief eight months of glory.

  6. Thankfully you can’t “correct” my comments here like you did at A3PR where you made it look like I threatened you and insulted your wife. Did you ever get caught for filing that false report with the FBI?

  7. Is Triple P Krystoph Lesiak? I doubt it is Don Grundmann from California.

  8. What is this about Cody supposedly filing a false report with the FBI? Any evidence?

  9. Space Cadet Coty Banks:

“Magnus/Freudian Slip/Pyramid Pile of Penis, that lovely comment you posted got blocked and after calling Andy Craig a faggot and then suddenly going back on it- you’re not fooling anyone, especially me.

You have serious issues that actually makes someone like Don Grundmann look sane and hopefully you’ll get the help you need after the FBI has a chat with you soon.”

Cody Quirk: No, Darrell Castle Is Not More Libertarian Than Gary Johnson, comment at July 18, 2016 at 22:24

  11. The “lovely comment” is something Quirk made up and posted as me since he has admin powers at A3PR.

  12. Wait, this grudge is over an internet comment you claim someone else made with your handle from nearly 4 years ago?

  13. PPP is likely the same person who played “Egyptian God,” and likely some other characters, minus the ones played by Paul, and who knows who else. Between Paul and whoever PPP/Egyptian God is, that’s a lot of fake name posters.

  14. Maybe PPP is also Paul? Then it may only be one person. Or maybe there’s more than two. You just never know.

  15. In 1972, Congressman John Schmitz switched to the American Party for the last five months of his term after winning the AP presidential nomination.

  16. Here is my best present understanding of commenters names here at BAN.
I ALWAYS and ALWAYS HAVE posted in my own namer.
So does Richard. And several others.
Paul-paulie, evidently posts in MANY names.
Including-evidently-William S. Saturn, presently filing a HUGE amount of posts at IPR.
I say evidently because it is -deliberately-difficult to determine.
PPP/Egyptian God is at IPR-X with many other persona.
Kris and Cody are evidently feuding in/around A3PR.
There is a HUGE feud between paulie and PPP/Egyptian God.
Kris I like and tried to get him to interview Robert Bowers.
Cody I like but I made the mistake of poking fun at his name.
    Cody-endless apologies, please accept!
New Federalist, bless his heart, is one of precious few who occasionally visits my website and comments.
I and William S. Saturn have a longstanding love/hate relationship.
Richard and I have some kind of longstanding love/hate relationship also.
