The Tennessee Secretary of State’s website has this list of presidential candidates who filed petitions. The only qualified parties in Tennessee are the Republican and Democratic Parties, so all others must use the independent presidential procedure, which requires 275 signatures.
Three independent petitions have already been approved: those for the Libertarian, Alliance, and Socialist Workers Party presidential nominees.
Still under review are petitions for the nominees of the Constitution, Green, Prohibition, Socialism & Liberation, and Unity Parties. Also under review are the petitions for three independent candidates: Brock Pierce, Horace Taylor, and Kanye West.
An incredibly low threshold for a state of almost 7,000,000 people, and some of these folks will probably still fail. Like the washed-up rapper, for whom this would be at least his eighth failed ballot application.
The American Solidarity Party couldn’t even make this 275 signature threshold, damn.
I’m pretty sure the Green, PSL, and Constitution parties are well organized enough to more than meet that threshold.
Brandon, the American Solidarity party did turn in a petition but it seems to have been turned down because a packet containing a signature from the candidate was severely delayed in the mail.
Any possibilities for challenging this given all that’s going on with COVID and the postal system?
We did make Louisiana, which a few more established third parties didn’t, as well as a few other states so far.
It would depend upon when you mailed it, in my opinion. If you could prove that the Post Office caused an unusual delay, I think you’d have a good case.
Even more 0.1 or less pct EGO freak candidates ???
Little wonder it takes the FEC many months after a USA election to produce Federal Elections, NNNN.
Skylar l would challenge if l were you. Andy has a point, you have a good reason to challenge the ruling. Maybe next time use Fedex to send off mail.
Excellent.
