Maine Secretary of State Will Ask State Supreme Court to Reverse Ruling that Put Anti-Ranked-Choice Voting Referendum on Ballot

On August 28, Maine’s Secretary of State said he will ask the State Supreme Court to reverse the decision of a lower state court that restored the referendum on ranked choice voting for president on the ballot. If the referendum remains on the ballot, then ranked-choice voting can’t be used for president this year.

  1. @Cody Quirk Just fuck off, and this will nothing but end this Republic existence as nothing but an joke to me and other people around this planet, without implementing any voting system.

  2. Should be NOOOO very confusing referendums —- YES = NO, NO = YES

Enact positive Const Amdts / Laws —- YES OR NO, PERIOD.

  3. I hope they reverse it as well. With 5 candidates on the ballot for President, this should be a good test of ranked choice voting.

  4. You need another test of RCV? Has there been any improvements since the many recent failures?

Also it will be interesting to watch 3rd party support for RCV vanish after they realize they are going to be credited with 0 votes for purposes of meeting the 5% national threshold at the end of the day since only the last count will matter for that and it is unlikely any of them will survive to the last round.
