Alaska Green Party Nominates Jesse Ventura for President

On September 1, the Alaska Green Party nominated Jesse Ventura for President and Cynthia McKinney for Vice-President. The Green Party is not ballot-qualified generally in Alaska, but earlier this year it completed the petition to give it “limited Political Party” status. A “limited political party” in Alaska is ballot-qualified for president, but nothing else. Thanks to Tim San Souci for this news. See this story.

Ventura did not ask for this nomination, but he did indicate some interest earlier this year in being the presidential nominee of the Green Party, and he received a handful of votes at the party’s July 2020 convention, even though he had not been placed in nomination.

Alaska Green Party Nominates Jesse Ventura for President — 24 Comments

  1. Can they even nominate someone without their consent or without them filing paperwork with the FEC stating that they are running of president? I feel like the same thing happened with Kanye for VP in California and the legality was ambiguous.

  2. Yeah, not at all happy about this. Draft him for an independent party if you want, but Jesse did not run as a Green this year, and should not be the nominee of the party on in any state unless they want to fully give up their status as a state affiliate.

  3. I like Jesse and Cynthia, but this is goofy as hell considering that neither are running. They should have nominated the official Green Party ticket of Howie Hawkins, and his female VP running mate (I can’t think of her name now).

  4. At the very least if they’re that upset with Hawkins/Walker nominate someone who’s actually running, like the Progressive Party ticket.

  5. Brad, decline? That lazy grifter’s ass got himself a free nomination.

Goofier yet? McKinney is officially a Libertarian and has been since 2018.

  6. Sane States have a requirement of candidate acceptances of nominations – one more election form — often combined with qualification for office info.

  7. Since Jesse Ventura isn’t actually the legal name of Jesse Ventura, the Alaska Secretary of State’s page currently lists his name as ‘Janos, James G. “Jesse Ventura”‘. Minnesota never had a problem with Ventura being on the ballot with his moniker, but I wonder how many states are that generous to a candidate. If Ventura had ever seriously ran for President, there could have been a state or two that would have been a pain in the butt about what name to list him under.

Some pro wrestlers have changed their legal names to their ‘ring names’ for various business reasons.

  8. The funny thing is that Jesse/Cynthia may end up getting more votes in Alaska then Howie/Angela. Ventura was open to be a write in candidate which he mentioned on his show on RT News after declining to run for Green Party candidate so he may accept the nomination. Not sure about Cynthia.

  9. Andy, That is a very unusual path to anarchism, don’t you think?
The idea here is to deny the GP every possible ballot to guarantee its failure in the EC should there be some sort of leftist surge in the polling/vote.

  10. Or, on the other hand, Alaska GP might be trying to signal its version/wishful thinking of a PLAS fusion ticket!!!

  11. Any “green” party that takes the likes of Ventura seriously for even a second is not a serious political organization, but a third-rate starf*cker club and Republican auxiliary.

  12. I agree with the Hawkins came campaign. That is backstabbing to take their money for ballot access, and then not put Hawkins on the ballot.

  13. The Constitution party has Seidenberg, GP has Shields. Looks like to me.
And Don Grundmann. See his comment in IPR on related thread, Darcy and Rocky. damage to CP and what is here about damage to GP.
Never thought I would be quoting Grundmann, but he says some interesting things about CP and Seidenberg.
William Saturn has written a lot about Grundman.
Cody Quirk a lot about CP.
Saturn and Quirk, how about commenting here because I cannot comment in IPR.

  14. It looks to me like the Russians want Trump to win.
    Chinese want Biden.
Israelis want either one; makes little difference.
They just DO NOT want CP or GP or LP to win.
Because they do not support Israel.
Russians, Chinese AND Israelis AND democrats and republicans do not want PLAS.

  15. The best thing for America would be Top Six.
Once Top Six in place, PLAS would become obvious.
But no, the democrats, republicans, Russians, Chinese and Israelis control America.

  16. By our own action our world as we know it is dying. I just hope whoever is elected is a legitimate leader who proves theirself not a coward by implementing a Green deal, reverse global destruction & create fairness for all life.
