On October 16, Congresswoman Angela Craig of Minnesota filed this brief in her lawsuit against the Minnesota law that says the 2nd district, U.S. House, election should be postponed to February 9 because of the death of the Legal Marijuana Now Party nominee. Craig v Simon, 20-3126. Congresswoman won in the U.S. District Court; she wants to election on November 3.
Is there supposed to be more to that last sentence? It seems like it was cut off…
The brief does not address the elections in Louisiana in 2008 in LA-2 and LA-4.
Following the brief’s logic, in LA-2 (New Orleans), the Republicans, Libertarians, and Greens would have had a nominee, but not the Democrats, in a seat where the 9-term Democratic incumbent William Jefferson was seeking renomination.
In LA-4 (western Louisiana), the ballot would have had two independents, but no Democrat or Republican on the ballot.

Court fast-tracks census appeal
The Supreme Court announced on Friday afternoon that it would expedite an appeal by the Trump administration in a dispute over the administration’s plan to exclude people who are in the country illegally from the state-by-state breakdown of the population for use in the allocation of seats in the House of Representatives.
The justices will hear oral argument in Trump v. New York [20-366] on Nov. 30, just over one month before a report by the secretary of commerce containing that information is required to go to the president. Barring some unforeseen development, the court is likely to be operating with all nine members again by then, with Judge Amy Coney Barrett expected to be confirmed to succeed Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the next few weeks.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to simply NOT have an election in this district and have the media “call” the election, as they like to do in the presidential race? The media is the self-appointed judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to the presidential election. They intend to replace the state boards of canvassers, secretaries of state, etc as well as the Electoral College with themselves. After all, the media is the virus.
