Several New York City Councilmembers File State Lawsuit to Delay Ranked Choice Voting

This year, New York city is scheduled to use ranked choice voting for primaries for city office. However, on December 8, some New York city councilmembers filed a lawsuit in State Supreme Court to delay RCV. They say the city has not yet done enough to educate voters on how to use it.   1. First, the NYC Voting system has to be updates and after testing approved by NY BOE. Then the Voters need education. Normally you would have until June Primary. But in Feb. 2021 there is a Special Election that will use Rank-Choice Voting for the First time.
