On February 8, dozens of major party candidates for New York local office filed a lawsuit in State Supreme Court, to seek relief from collecting signatures to get on the primary ballots this year. Here is the Complaint. Williams v Cuomo, State Supreme Court, Manhattan. Thanks to Mike Schaefer for this news.
It isn’t enough that New York wants to shut down all minor parties. They want to limit severely the number of major party candidates that run, as well. All to save money on their scheme to subsidize Democratic Party candidates? Why not save money on both campaigns and elections, and just declare as elected whichever candidates turn in the most signatures for any position?
New York –
why have ANY elections ??? —

What 666 LAWLESS TYRANT do you want to totally control ALL life, liberty and property in New York State ???
New poll when the LAWLESS TYRANT passes on — by murder, old age, etc. see Roman Empire killers 27 BC – 476 AD.

Seriously, major party candidates should only have to submit petitions in lieu of filing fees.
@ Tom:
That’s a great idea.

That is how things are in Minnesota.
