Iowa Governor Signs Bill that Injures Ballot Access

On the evening of March 8, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, a Republican, signed SF 413. Among other things, it makes ballot access considerably more difficult, especially for minor party and independent candidates for U.S. House.

  1. Oh well, it is going to be a lot harder for minor party and independent candidates to get on the ballot next time in Iowa.

  2. The county distribution requirement is very likely to be attacked in court.

  3. I would thing that ballot access in federal races should especially sensitive to the 1st Amendment.
