Jessica Huseman, an expert on election administration, has this article about HR One, the Democratic Party omnibus election law bill in Congress. She says that the election administration parts of the bill are faulty to an alarming degree. Thanks to Election Law Journal for the link.
I suspect that the Democrats threw this mess together expecting Republicans to embarrass themselves with “no” votes, but (whew) with no expectation that it would actually pass.
I’m amazed that any criticism of HR 1 was allowed to be published in the highly pro-Democrat Daily Beast. Just goes to show that this bill is such a mess that even the propaganda outlets are conceding the fact. And even then it’s just scraping the tip of the iceberg, having not gone into any detail about the botched campaign finance section or the McCarthyist sections on foreign interference. Congressional Democrats desperately need to go back to the drawing board on this bill.
