Michigan Bill Moving Non-Presidential Primary from August to June Advances

On April 13, the Michigan House Elections & Ethics Committee passed HB 4530. It moves the non-presidential primary from August to the second Tuesday in June. It would not take effect until 2023. It would have no impact on the petition deadlines for independent candidates or new parties.

  1. Mich – Some party hacks are nominated via party hack conventions AFTER the primary

    — Lt Guv, AG, SOS, MI SCT

some near disasters in printing ballots — 45 days before election day Fed stuff, etc.

Thus excuse for primary date change.

However – more pressure on getting pet sigs earlier — esp USA Sen, USA Reps, Guv.

Prez years – any pressure to have ONE primary date – ALL Fed/state/Local offices — esp in HR 1 bill ???
