The CFR publishes a great magazine called Foreign Affairs. You can disagree with what the CFR thinks, but what the CFR thinks and does is out in the opem.

    As for the subject of the original post/article itself, it’s not a bad article, fairly well balanced and accurate overall, even if as a peace activist I disagree with the CFR’s framing of the German Greens’ foreign policy as “pragmatic”.

  9. It’s a fact that Putin pays far right and racist bigots to post online in sites frequented by people from the US, EU, etc. It’s not McCarthyism to point that out. The prevalent ideology of the United Russia party and Putin is right-authoritarian and kleptocratic, not communist. The communist party of the Russian federation is in the opposition.

    It’s true that Putin was a KGB agent and promotes nostalgia for Stalin, but he also promotes mixing church and state, his crony oligarchs and their crony corporatism, islamophobia, homophobia, nostalgia for the Czars and territorial expansion by military conquest. Do you see something in common with Green values there?

  12. Egyptian God: What makes you think my job is shitty? I am debt free. I pay my bills and save money each month. Before the pandemic I was able to go on yearly vacations. What more is there when it comes to material things?

    I was a General Manager at a couple of different hotels for about 10 years. Now I consider myself semi-retired. I need to do a little work, but there is no reason for me to be a General Manager now. I am no longer responsible if other people don’t show up or don’t do their job properly. Instead of being available 24 hours a day I do my 8 hours and go home.

    My goal is to live a quiet stress free life. Working as the Night Auditor at the Motel 6 gives everything I need and want. It’s a great job for me.

  22. Ronnie: Have you ever heard the term Classical Liberal? It is a political ideology that is on the Left. It is also the political ideology of most of the Founding Fathers.

    Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Thomas Paine, and many others were Classical Liberals. They were not Communists and neither am I.

    The idea that everything that is not Conservative is Communist is nonsense. Communism is an extreme fringe of the Left the same way that Nazism is an extreme fringe of the Right.

    Only a miniscule number of people on the Right are Nazis and only a miniscule number of people on the Left are Communists.
