  1. I knew Richard Winger was a commie. He would never harp on this if it happened to be a Republican. Richard Winger is a hypocrite.

A relationship without trust is like a car without gas. You can stay in it ..but..it won’t go anywhere.

  3. I knew Ricky was a wingnut. He’d never harp on Richard Winger unless he were.

God, the trollery level here gets worse by the day.

  4. Not sure if “interesting” is the word I’d use, as previous reports have noted this does indeed appear to be the case. Given the rest of the piece, “straightforward,” “hard-hitting, or “deal with it MAGAs like Ricky” are terms I’d use instead.

  5. The op-ed is partisan and misleading.

    The law states:

“A candidate for nomination by primary for any office shall be required to file a written declaration of candidacy on a form prescribed by the State Board.”

The form prescribed by the State Board requires witnesses who observe “the foregoing instrument was subscribed and sworn before me.”

The instrument was not subscribed (signed) so the “acknowledgment” never occurred.

    Under the statute:

“The declaration shall be acknowledged before some officer who has the authority to take acknowledgments to deeds, or attested by two witnesses who are qualified voters of the election district.”

The acknowledgment requirement (shall) of the declaration was not fulfilled.

Arguing no signature is required sounds like a purposeful obfuscation of what the law requires.

I do not know of any legal precedents on this matter in Virginia or elsewhere. That may be helpful information.

  6. Good point, William. We all know that if this were a minor party or independent candidate that that candidate would not be on the ballot over this.

  7. WS – most States specify exact forms in LAWS for basic election stuff —

    to be a registered elector
    nominating petitions
applying to vote – in person or absentee
    etc.

    — ALL with signatures

  8. declarations of candidacy —

    incumbents to file before non-incumbents

    — reduce dynasty ROT.

  9. WZ —

only if TJ is unable to file.

Hmmm. TJ reported dead on 4 July 1776 – DOI day plus 50 years.
