On January 4, the Republican National Committee gave preliminary approval to a rules change, requiring the Republican presidential nominee not to participate in the general election debates sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates. The change won’t be final it is approved again in the summer of 2022. Thanks to Thomas Jones for this news.

  1. Even more TV attack ads by the now many ANTI-Democracy special interest gangs ???

Any folks see the PBS shows about Hitler machinations in 1931-1934 ???

  2. Good for them. Maybe a better debate sponsor will emerge with fairer rules for third party candidate. Or maybe Trump would debate the green party candidate while Biden takes his nap.

It opens up all kinds of possibilities. For example the league of women voters could sponsor debates again? Or some other group? Let’s say they invited L, D, R and maybe G? If the bigger party’s sit it out you may have better production and coverage than third party debates in the past. Or lets say only one of the big two shows up. Or maybe that would get both of them there. Who knows?

  3. Chances are that the Democrats and Republicans won’t agree to a debate format, such that there won’t be any major party debates in 2024.

  4. HOW ABOUT G AND L CANDIDATES ASK QUESTIONS TO D AND R MONSTERS ???

HOW MANY UNDECLARED WARS WILL YOU HAVE ???

HOW WILL YOU GET THE USA NATIONAL DEBT PAID OFF ???

HOW WILL YOU GET ZERO INFLATION – TO STOP THE NONSTOP DESTRUCTION OF PAPER SAVINGS — SAVINGS ACCOUNTS / PENSION FUNDS / ETC. ???

    ETC.
