Colorado Republican Candidate for U.S. House Sues Secretary of State Over Petition Validity

On March 21, Republican congressional candidate Erik Aadland sued the Secretary of State in state court, alleging that he does have enough valid signatures to be on the Republican primary ballot for U.S. House, 7th district. See this story. The Secretary of State’s office had determined that he was short 46 signatures.

The primaries are on June 28, 2022.

  1. Eliminate exclusionary partisan primaries.

    Let candidates file with SOS, paying deposit of $0.01 per voter to be contacted. Candidates may ask to have all registered voters in district be contacted, or may supply in electronic form list of voters. SOS sends out list of candidates seeking office.

    Voter checks candidates they support, sign form and return, just like they would ballot.

    Candidates need 1/20 of 1% vote cast in last gubernatorial election. If candidate qualifies for ballot, deposit is returned.
