Oregon Governor Signs Bill Easing Definition of a Qualified Political Party

On March 24, Oregon Governor Kate Brown signed SB 1527. Among other things, it eases the definition of a qualified party. It reduces the registration requirement from one-half of 1% of the state total, to one-fourth of 1%. This is the first bill enacted in calendar year 2022 that improves ballot access.

Oregon Governor Signs Bill Easing Definition of a Qualified Political Party — 4 Comments

  1. What a sad trend that is going on in America now regarding ballot access. More effort seems to be in trying to keep candidates off the ballot than getting candidates on the ballot. Don’t ya just love DUMOCRACY?

  2. Previous comment accidentally posted here. oppss. Then again, the Oregon Governor really didn’t do much improvement on ballot access. How about passing a bill paying $250 to get on the ballot without all the rest of the signature gathering bull crap.

  3. INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATES get their names on ballots — with some elected —

    NOT *parties* — factions/fractions of ALL electors-voters.

SCOTUS – brain dead about EQUAL ballot access since 1968 Williams v Rhodes.
