More than Eleven Months Has Passed Since First Circuit Held Oral Argument on Maine Ban on Out-of-State Circulators

The First Circuit heard oral arguments in We the People PAC v Bellows, 21-1149, on July 27, 2021. This is the case over Maine’s ban on out-of-state circulators for initiatives. There is still no decision.

  1. The ban only applies to initiative and referendum petitions, not to candidate petitions. Hopefully it will get thrown out.
