The Moderate Party of Rhode Island has placed William H. Gilbert on the November 2022 ballot for U.S. House, second district. He was the party’s gubernatorial candidate in 2018.
Gilbert is the first minor party candidate on the Rhode Island ballot for either House of Congress since 2004, when a Socialist Party nominee ran for the same U.S. House seat.
Is the Moderate Party still an officially recognized party with ballot status in Rhode Island?
No, the Moderate Party lost its qualified status in November 2018.
Well now that the Mises controlled Rhode Island LP completely screwed up and lost ballot access today, at least there will be some third party candidates on the ballot
The LP has never had recognized party status in Rhode Island. The party has not had a candidate for Governor on the ballot in Rhode Island in a long time. Blaming this on the Mises Caucus is absurd.
Brandon Lyon is a communist.
The Rhode Island Libertarian Party hasn’t had a candidate on the ballot for Governor since 1976. I am disappointed they were 54 signatures short this year on their gubernatorial petition.
I recently found out that Rhode Island only allows 9 days to gather the 1,000 valid petition signatures required to be on the ballot for a non-presidential statewide office.
9 days is an unreasonably short time window, in my opinion, especially since each city/town has to be separated and notarized, and submitted to the appropriate city/town clerk’s office.
9 days for 1,000 sounds like a cake walk compared to NY’s 6 weeks for 45,000 signatures
Incompetent buffoons.
