To add on, it’s probably the last completely random ticket the LP’s had in Badnarik/Campagna. Barr, Johnson, and Weld were formerly elected officials of some reknown. Jorgensen had been the party’s VP nominee before. Wayne Allyn Root was in the LNC. Badnarik floated in and then away following his 2006 Congress run, and I have no idea who Richard Campagna is or was.
I am sad to hear of Michael Badnarik’s passing. He was an energetic and effective advocate for liberty. I recall his inspiring speech at the Libertarian National Convention in Atlanta in 2004 when he, although not as well known or as well funded as Aaron Russo and Gary Nolan, expressed his views with such freshness and optimism that he made a surprising strong showing in the first two rounds of voting convincing many delegates that he was the right person to nominate. Gary Nolan who had placed third and not permitted to advance to the next round of voting, then endorsed Michael. I later supported Michael in his campaign for Congress in Texas and was impressed by his willingness to hold classes on the US Constitution wherever he could. I was in communication with him last in September 2021 and he told me he was planning to relocate to San Antonio. He also remembered my contributions to his Presidential campaign and I was impressed by his graciousness. May he rest in peace and be honored in our memories as a true fighter for individual freedom and peace.
Andy, on my blog, I’ve written “takedown” obits of John McCain and many others. Nothing rude at all about making sure the truth gets heard before hagiography sets it. By your standards, media, bloggers, and commenters should have just ignored the warmongering of McCain and Albright, the First Amendment hating of Ginsburg, etc. and, per Liberty Valance, just printed the hagiography?

Michael Badnarik was the last of the LP presidential nominees of the Harry Browne mould. He was solid and appropriately radical for liberty. The LP has moved far away from that in the years since. RIP.
He was a reasonably right wing candidate on most issues at a time when the GOP was running a welfare-warfare state retread for reelection. However, I found Michael Peroutka of the Constitution Party to be even better that year. I did enjoy Mr. Badnarik’s Constitution lectures.
And yes, Stock, Trump is by far the greatest President we ever had, and will be even far better when (not if) he gets back into his rightful office which was stolen from him in the rigged election of 2020.

Just as nationalists claim liberals are part of the left because liberals oppose nationalism, socialists claim liberals are part of the right because liberals support capitalism. Both are wrong. The left-right spectrum is inadequate to capture the full range of political ideologies. Liberalism is its own quadrant that is neither left, nor right.
The Nolan chart is laughable crap. The right is about preserving tradition and faith. The left, or sinister, is about buying into Satan’s lie that the illuminated or enlightened human intellect can come up with something better than thousands of years of tradition and the revealed word of God. This is “illuminated” or “enlightened” because Lucifer is the fallen angel of light. You either stand on the right with God or on the left with Satan. There are no other quadrants or options. It is a two sided war simple and plain.
Satan’s lie is of course a lie. The freedom the left promises is a mirage. What you end up with instead is the far worse tyranny of Satan. The illusion of freedom and mankind in control is just a dishonest sales job to get us there.

The Prohibitionists weren’t preserving tradition at the time. They were destroying it. Today’s Social Conservatives are just preserving the tradition of destroying the older, classical liberal tradition.
NeoConservatives, as everyone knows, came out of the Democratic party. They were Cold War Progressives who didn’t want to associate with the dirty hippies invading the Democratic party, so they migrated over to the Republican side. Given enough time, those progressives became known as conservatives. They’re still big spenders on domestic programs, though, just as they were when they were known as Progressives in the Democratic Party.
Today’s PaleoConservatives are just a mutt that evolved after WW2 from a mix of pre-WW2 Republican isolationists and Southern White Supremacists who, of course, had been Democrats through the 1960s. It wasn’t until George Wallace’s 1968 Presidential run that the latter seriously considered leaving the Democratic party and it was the anti-immigrant language of the old Republican isolationists that welcomed them to the Republican side. The two got married, banged, and had a mixed heritage kid called PaleoConservatism.
