Libertarian Nominee for Hillsborough County Attorney Wins Democratic Nomination by Write-ins

New Hampshire permits fusion, but it is very difficult for anyone to obtain the nominations of two parties. A candidate can only win the nomination of the party he or she is not a member of, via write-ins in that party’s primary.

At the September 13, 2022 New Hampshire primary, Nicholas Sarwark, who had already qualified by petition as the Libertarian Party’s nominee for Hillsborough County Attorney, also won the Democratic nomination via write-in votes. No candidate was listed for that office on the Democratic primary ballot. Sarwark received 1,023 write-ins in the Democratic primary. His only opponent, Republican incumbent John Coughlin, received 98 votes in that primary. So on the November ballot, Sarwark will be listed as the nominee of the Libertarian and Democratic Parties.

Hillsborough is the most populous county in New Hampshire. Thanks to Andy Craig for this news. Sarwark is a former national chair of the Libertarian Party. He also ran for Hillsborough County Attorney as a Libertarian in 2020. That time, he received 11,982 votes; the Republican received 105,491 votes; the Democrat received 95,948 votes.

  1. Sawark has a real chance now in the general election. Far from being a communist, he is taking advantage of quirks in the NH election laws, to his advantage. His opponent is a hardline conservative. If he can rally the L’s and the D’s, they can take out the incompetent incumbent, John Coughlin. (Full disclosure: I spent 25+ years in Hillsborough County, NH).

  2. It appears the same thing also happened in the County Treasurer race, for Richard Manzo (a friend of Nick’s who, IIRC, held some state party office in the pre-takeover LPNH).

  3. Andy Craig isn’t gay…But if you kicked him in the ass…A thousand pricks would fall out…

  4. Two more commies and Sarwark puppets in Mark Tuniewicz and Andy Craig have entered the discussion. They are mad the LP is actually becoming libertarian instead of their communist dictator shadiness.

  5. Nicholas Sarwark was elected to three terms as the Libertarian National Committee chairman. If the accusations of these Mises Caucus rabble rousers that he’s a communist were remotely accurate you would think that the LP voters of Colorado or Maryland or national party voters would have figured it out by the 2nd or 3rd go around. I think what they’re really pissy about is how Nick recruited the Johnson-Weld ticket. Good Luck Nick, I’ll be rooting for you from here in Phoenix.

  6. Dunno who that is, but he’s incorrect to say I’m not gay. Happily married ten years here in a couple of months. Though we had to go to Iowa to get married at the time.

  7. Congratulations to Libertarian Nicholas Sarwark and best wishes for his winning the General Election.

  8. You must repent of your sins. Homosexuality is an abomination and will earn you a place in hell if it is not cured.

  9. Sarwark is not a libertarian. He’s a communist which is why he picked up the Democrat nomination. It’s where he belongs.

  10. Richard Manzo won the Dem nomination for Hillsborough County Treasurer.
Manzo & Sarwark sought the Dem nomination in the primary as write-in candidates because there was no Dems on the primary ballot for those offices.
    The 2020 results for Treasurer were R:107,329 D:90,769 L:11,682

  11. Uhhh, marriage (gay or straight) is NOT a libertarian thing. Government should not be in the business of marriage whatsoever.

  12. Congrats to CZAR-WARK. At least he’s doing something for the party.

I was eagerly awaiting the changes under the new regime at the LNC, but have been disappointed so far. Sure, they have been putting out some awesome tweets that are very pro-liberty. That’s the easy part. But there doesn’t seem to be much activity toward getting people elected to office.

Hope it’s just a matter of time til they get things up to speed.

  13. Now commie Darryl W. Perry enters. This is the guy along with Sarwark who believes the government should force you to take a shot, one that doesn’t work makes it even worse.

  14. I don’t believe in vaccine mandates, I do however think it makes sense to get the vaccine against COVID-19.
I also believe you have a legal right to be stupid.

  15. I have not taken the COVID vaccines, and I only wore masks in places where I was forced to like airports, and even then I did not wear it 100% of the time, and I did not practice social distance or wash my hands any more than normal, and I have not had any problems.

COVID-19 is an over-hyped government scam.

  16. Vaccines are poison. Masks should be outlawed. Social distancing causes mental problems. COVID tests contain dangerous chemicals. The whole thing was an evil communist satanic scam scheme to wreck the economy and help the Demoncrats steal the election and put in their dementia ridden Chinese puppet and his voodoo witch hooker sidekick.

  17. Perry is the idiot. The shot does not work. It’s so bad people are dying from it, especially the young with great immune systems. No wonder Perry and Sarwark are buddies.

  18. I am old enough to remember when Darryl Perry called himself the Southern Patriot and flew a huge Confederate flag and protested abortion clinics and said he wished he was around in 1968 so he could vote for George Wallace. Then he moved to New Hampshire and became a whiney leftist, married a woman who stuck his Fetlife balls in a vice, had a stroke (perhaps from the vaccine) and became a twin of John Fetterwoman. I was going to say clone but that’s Tom Knapp.

  19. I had a stroke before the COVID vaccine was available, and it was because I had a hike in my heart.
