Forward Party Will Work to Improve New York State Ballot Access

The Forward Party of New York will make a major effort to help improve the New York ballot access laws. The message from the party to its supporters, sent November 6, says, “Forward NY will be working on election reform efforts in New York State. While there are many issues that need fixing, our primary focus for the next year will be ballot access.”

New York ballot access law was already faulty, even before the hostile 2020 changes. New York state is one of eleven states that lacks any procedure by which a group can transform itself into a qualified party, in advance of any particular election.

  1. I wish them luck on that issue, but I refuse to support the party in general until they rescind their support for nonpartisan primaries. Yang seems like just another rich ‘reformer’ with no actual political science background, and in general I don’t trust him to make good decisions. As has been pointed out before on this blog, top anything systems have a horrible effect on party rights, and ballot access in particular.
