Illinois Congressmember Sean Casten Introduces Proposed Constitutional Amendment to Alter U.S. Senate

Illinois Congressman Sean Casten, a Democrat who represents some of the Chicago suburbs and who has been in Congress since 2018, has introduced a constitutional amendment to alter the U.S. Senate, and also to somewhat alter the electoral college. Here is the text.

It would add twelve U.S. Senators to be elected at-large. Voters of the District of Columbia and U.S. territories would be allowed to vote for these Senators. Four of them would be elected in each election. Ranked choice voting would be used to elect them.

The proposed amendment says nothing about how candidates for Senate-at-large would get on the ballot. Obviously there would need to be a federal ballot access law, because it would make no sense if the various candidates were on the ballot in some states but not other states.

The amendment also says there would be twelve new presidential electors, also elected at-large. These candidates would also need a federal ballot access law. Thanks to Fairvote for this news.

  1. ABOLISH THE USA ANTI-DEMOCRACY MINORITY RULE GERRYMANDER SENATE AND ELECTORAL COLLEGE

    PR
    APPV
    TOTSOP

  2. The additional pay and cost for staffers for these additional Senators should be taken from the pay of the current 100 US Senators, thus reducing the pay of the 100 current US Senators.

  3. Of course this communist idiocy will not come close to passing, at least not in any year soon. But what this really shows, yet again, is the utter retardation and communism of the dumbed down Demonrats. And, even more importantly, what kind of future the United States and other predominantly and historically White countries face if they keep suicidally allowing themselves to be demographically transformed into White minorities while allowing way too many people who should never be allowed to vote to do so.

  4. Max isn’t wrong. We need to first of all fully stop and reverse the disastrous demographic impact of the 1965 immigration law, along with all the changes to our laws since then. Secondly, we need to also repeal the (no) civil rights (for Whites) act and bring back Jim Crow, which was actually much better than what we have now.

Then, we must take away voting rights from women, and repeal the changes to our laws which have been adopted since women have been allowed to vote. And we must as a nation face up to what we did during and after the War of Yankee Aggression, and pay reparations to the descendants of those who back then legally owned slaves for the unjust loss, confiscation and/or destruction of their slave and other property, with interest.

If we did these things we would be far, far better off. Let’s also make it illegal, and punishable very severely, to disparage law enforcement officers or to push critical race theory and to push the transgender and homosexual agendas. If, and only if, we do these things will we put ourselves on track to win World War III against communist Red China and remain One Nation Under God.

  5. I don’t believe he supports any part of what I said, or that any other leftist does either.

  6. The only thing we need to know about the 2024 election is that Donald Trump will be the legitimate winner, just like in 2016 and 2020. Hopefully by a wide enough margin that they won’t be able to steal it and put in another Chinese Communist puppet yet again.

  7. I can’t even begin to put into words how angry I am at each and every Biden voter right now. If I could, I would lock each one of them up one by one naked in a cage with horny giant pandas which would be pumped full of meth, PCP and Viagra and watch them get raped to death. Because that’s what they are doing to this country with this Xi hand puppet pretender in Chief. It burns me up every single second of every day that he is illegitimately occupying the office of the man we elected twice to be our President, the great and wonderful Donald Trump.

  8. Presidential candidates can be on the ballot in some states and not others, so why not an at-large US Senator?

It would be amusing if an at-large US Senator was elected while being kept off the ballot in DC and Puerto Rico.

  9. Every U. S. election under ballot access laws that censor voter choice makes the result illegitimate no matter how scrupulously tallied the vote. Trump was as much a usurper as Biden or Woodrow Wilson.
Either the voter has absolute property ownership of what they put on a ballot or they ballot is mere empty ritual of propaganda for the Deep State.
Fascist racists are as blind as their targets to their own manipulation by a ruling elite of election riggers. No one matters when ballots are censored except the censors.

  10. Article 5 says:

“..no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.”

So, in order for this proposal to pass, every state would have to agree to it.

  11. Jim, presidential candidates aren’t candidates in November elections. The people are only choosing slates of presidential electors. Then the electors choose the president in December.
