Canada is holding a special parliamentary election in Manitoba on June 19 to fill a vacancy. The special election ballot has 48 candidates listed. There would have only been six candidates, except that the Longest Ballot Committee, a group that is trying to get proportional representation for Canada, deliberately encouraged 42 individuals to file, just to bring attention to their cause.
See this story. All of the 42 individuals have a single campaign treasurer, and all are on the ballots as independents except for one who is listed as the nominee of the Rhinocerus Party.

Hi, thanks for posting this. Just wanted to let you know that for national elections in Canada the $1,000 is no longer required. The $1000 candidate wealth test was abolished by the courts in the 2017 case Szuchewycz v Canada. The 100 nomination signatures from local residents per candidate are still required.

I’m pretty sure I never before saw any definition of dark ages that extends to 1760s, setting aside whether the so called enlightenment was actually a change for the better on balance. A quick check shows that the alleged “dark” age ended by various definitions sometime between 1000 and 1500 AD. Not a single source for dark ages in 1760anything.

So, the dark ages ended when? 1918? 1945? Not yet? Is there one historian, alive or dead, who agrees with AZ?
Presidents, governors, and mayors are not monarchs. They serve a limited term in office with limited powers and divided branches of government. What power they do have is not hereditary.
AZ must have a unique definition of monarchy. Maybe any executive branch head at any level of any government anywhere. But then he rails for total separation of powers. Oh well, no point in making heads or tails out of the ravings of a loon who thinks the only difference between Trump and a guy with an 8 digit body count who invaded almost all of Europe and chunks of northern Africa and then left his country as a ruined wreck divided and conquered by foreign powers after he killed himself in a bunker is that Trump hasn’t been convicted or jailed.
Speaking of which, of the last two presidents, one is known for hiding out in a bunker. I’m pretty sure his name is not Trump though. Just don’t ask him what his name is, because he probably won’t remember. His close associates call him the Big Guy, and kick him up 10% of the take.
100 signatures is way too little.

Mayors, governors, and presidents don’t have judicial or legislative power. A veto is actually part of checks and balances. So are pardons. Was Madison against vetoes and pardons? Did he ever use them as President? Did he rail against other Presidents doing so?
AZ never answered when the dark age ended, or if it ever did. Are we going straight from a dark age to a new dark age? Or is it all the same dark age? Has there ever been a non dark age? If so, when?

Ok, so all ages are dark ages. No new age or late dark age or anything. I think what AZ means is called imperfect human nature. No evidence yet that anything he proposes would make it better, much less no longer “dark.” The term dark age would only make sense if prior and subsequent times were better.
There’s a lot of controversy over whether even what most historians call the dark age was really all that dark. If it was, there’s then the question of whether the mediaeval period was part of the dark age or separate. I’ve yet to see anyone except AZ say dark ages extended before the fall of the western Roman empire or after around 1500 AD. The way he uses the terms dark age and new age is ahistorical, illogical, and at variance with how other people use those terms.
But then that’s probably what you should expect from someone who can barely distinguish between Trump and Hitler, thinks the US is a monarchy, and possibly thinks he is God, or at least refuses to deny that is what his moniker means.
