Please see the first two paragraphs of his Wikipedia article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lowell_Weicker
Mr. Weicker and his Lt. Governor running mate, Eunice Groark, are the only candidates from outside the then-current two major parties to be elected to statewide state office in Connecticut history. However, in 2006, Connecticutdid elect an independent U.S. Senator, Joseph Lieberman.
Wikipedia, which anyone can edit, is being used for articles? That’s a new low.
Agreed. Very pathetic.
part of wiki — another fine 40 pct winner in baaaade olde days
now pressure for REAL democracy
via appv, rcv , Condorcet for execs/judics
AZ, I would expect that as an apparent centrist, former Republican, with some support from Democrats, Mr. Weicker would’ve had a majority under Approval Voting, would’ve won in Ranked Choice Voting with votes transferred from the eliminated Democrat, and would’ve been the Condorcet winner.
REAL democracy, as you say, would just turn this fluke into a habit.
Weicker ended up being the most hated governor in Connecticut history after he imposed the state income tax.
HOW MANY ELEPHANTS MOVED OUT OF CT LAND [AND MANY OTHER N/E STATES] SINCE 1854 — NEVER TO RETURN ???
This site is a joke.
Do you have a better one to suggest on these topics with equivalent or greater updates and participation? Systems of governance is a more direct interest than parties or candidates. I’ve already seen the IPRX but it doesn’t seem to have adequate participation for a conversation to spark. There has been little in the way of that here, too.

I was not asking you, and I already clarified I’m not interested in starting a website. I’m looking for an existing comments community where intelligent discussion of different prospective governance systems might be welcome with a large enough variety and frequency of regular participation. None of my questions or statements here or for that matter anywhere else are directed at AZ. I would block AZ if such an option was present here. Hope that’s clear now.
I’m not interested in censoring anyone. I’d like AZ comments available for those who want to read them. I would like a personal block option that any user can employ against any other. I know it’s feasible in many types of forum software, although not necessarily this particular one.
Maybe Mr. LIBERTARIAN has suggestions. Or anyone who is not AZ.
