In 2021, the Arizona legislature moved the independent presidential petition deadline from 60 days before the general election, to 80 days before the general election. The change was made in an omnibus election law bill, SB 1492.
This is the sort of legislative change B.A.N. tries to report, but this change was not noticed by me until recently. The 2024 presidential petition deadline is August 17, 2024.
IS THE UNEQUAL STUFF PUT ON GOVT ELECTION WEBSITES ??? —
HOW CANDIDATES GET ON BALLOTS
Presumably, government sites get updated, although not necessarily with all possible information or right away. As good as Mr. Winger is at this, it’s certainly possible for something to escape his notice from time to time.
There are after all 50 states, DC, the federal government, and occasionally foreign countries to keep track of, among other things, and bureaucrats update their websites whenever they get around to it, regardless of how much money they squeeze from taxpayers. Even if they always updated their websites immediately, nobody could possibly check every update on every government election constantly, even if they got paid to do it, and my understanding is that Mr. Winger does this as a hobby, not a for profit business.
ANY STATE LAWS THAT REQUIRE FAST UPDATES OF ELECTION LAW WEBSITES ???
ESP BALLOT ACCESS OF CANDS AND ISSUES
Who would enforce such laws, and how, if such laws existed? Who would pass them, and why would they?
I see the filing for Independent Presidential petition is Sunday 28 July – Saturday 17 August 2024.
