I have a suspicion that the Democratic leaders don’t want to nominate Biden, but they want him to stay in the race until after the primaries are over so that they can put forward a substitute of their own preference at the last possible moment before the convention. They don’t want the party riled by a divisive primary fight.
It could be Hillary.
